Most of my friends will know I've been whining and stressing about whether I'd be able to attend Megaplex this year with the ever wonderful
crocosaur.
I am delighted to say that thanks to an incredibly cheap fare offer from Northwest (to be found on seat24.co.uk and Ebookers, but not on Northwest/KLM's own UK website...) the answer is yes. (Three hundred pounds return. I didn't believe it either. I suspect it may relate to the fact that Northwest is switching its London-MSP flights from Gatwick to Heathrow around this time; I leave from Gatwick but arrive back at Heathrow.)
I fly into Minneapolis-St Paul on 20th March (Maundy Thursday) and don't leave again till Saturday 5th April, affording me ample time to drive down to Florida and back (picking up Croco in Pewaukee on the way, natch) and still have time and money to do a few fun things down there!
Isn't it funny how having something to look forward to, is the absolute best thing ever at blasting the blues away?

Just remember to book your hotel room before Feb. 28 to get the Megaplex special rate. :)

Yep. One adopts the, 'Out of my way! Nothing's going to spoil my fun!' attitude.
Spot on, no pun intended. Meg and I, when we were long-distance, ended up concluding most of our e-mails to each other with the number of days, or the number of hours, before we'd be back together. The uncertainty of not knowing when the next time we'd be together was the killer. LDRs aren't much fun, but they can work out, with lots of time, patience, desire on both sides, good communication and rather scary amounts of money.
I've only ever taken a transatlantic NW flight once and it was pretty damn good - if you're on one of their A330s, then your flight should be fine too. Be sure to collect frequent flyer miles of some description, as I have probably nagged you (and every other LDR participant in nagging radius) half a dozen times. If you don't, I'll happily talk you through it.
£300 at that time on the calendar sounds damn good to me, especially considering what the fuel surcharges are like compared to previous years. Yay for road trips in good company, too! Looking at the map, looks like a pretty darn epic road trip to me...
